Zachary Weeks - Disability Advocate Speaker
@zacharyweeks zacharyweeks.ca

Zachary Weeks is an Edmonton-born disability advocate, accessibility consultant, and keynote speaker committed to making inclusion real. Having been told early in life he’d never walk, talk, or care for himself, Zachary has instead defied expectations, using a power wheelchair and his own story to shine a light on ableism, discrimination, and the urgent need for accessible environments. He’s consulted on major projects such as Rogers Place, the Walterdale Theatre, and the Glenrose’s Bill Black Auditorium, advising on everything from accessible design to signage and wayfinding. With humor, heart, and lived experience, his talks challenge us all to think beyond compliance—to build spaces, systems, and communities where everyone truly belongs.

Carla Peck, PhD, MEd, BEd, BA
@cpeck3 carlapeck.wordpress.com

Dr. Carla L. Peck is Professor of Social Studies Education in the Faculty of Education at the University of Alberta. Her research sits at the intersection of history, identity, citizenship, and pedagogy, exploring how students’ ethnic identities influence their understanding of history, how teachers and learners conceive democratic concepts, and what meaningful history education looks like in a diverse, plural society. She also leads the national partnership grant Thinking Historically for Canada’s Future. Beyond her research, Dr. Peck is deeply committed to educational equity: providing professional development for K-12 educators, consulting on curriculum development, and contributing to public discourse around how history and citizenship are taught in Canada.
